### Professional career

- For 25 of those years, he was a part-time magistrate while maintaining a full-time law practice; in the final six years, he served full-time overseeing the court’s criminal division
- Alan C. Harvey is a Senior Magistrate Judge of the DeKalb County Magistrate Court and a Senior Judge in the Superior Court of DeKalb County, with over 31 years of judicial service

- Since January 2017, he has served exclusively in the Superior Court
- In 2023, he was assigned to Division 11 of the Superior Court to help clear a post‐pandemic backlog, presiding over 23 contested domestic relations cases, 2 murder trials, numerous felony jury trials, and about 30 family violence protective order matters
- In December 2016, Judge Harvey retired from active magistrate service but was appointed Senior Magistrate Judge.
