- In October 2017, he joined hear arguments in Barnett et al. v.
- He also presided over the Clayton County Adult Felony Drug Court from 2009 to 2017
- Before becoming a judge, Collier served as a Probation/Intake Officer with the Clayton County Juvenile Court and later as an Assistant District Attorney from 1983 to 1998.
- He was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1982
- Collier has held the role of an adjunct professor in Criminal Procedure at Clayton College & State University and has been active in community service, including membership on the Clayton/Fayette Advisory Board at the Salvation Army.
- He is a longtime resident of Clayton County and a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro
