## Biography

### Professional career

- Democratic Party candidate and has been recognized as Judge of the Year in 2023 and won the 2026 State Bar of Texas Judicial Preference Poll, receiving the most votes of any court of appeals candidate in Texas
- Before joining the appellate court, Guerra was Associate Municipal Judge for the City of Houston from 2005 to 2010, the youngest sitting judge on that court at age 28.
- Legal clerkship: U.S. District Judge Filemón Vela, Southern District of Texas
