### Professional career

- Ana María Martinez joined the bench on January 7, 2022 by Governor Brian Kemp to replace Judge Dax E. Lopez, becoming the first Latina trial court judge in Georgia

### Education

- She was re‐elected in the May 21, 2024 general election
- focusing on consumer warranty, personal injury, and employment law.
- Her legal career began as a litigator at Owen, Gleaton, Egan, Jones & Sweeney, LLP
- In interviews, Martinez has credited her grandfather’s pro bono legal work in Colombia with inspiring her career, and she has emphasized the importance of representation for Latino communities on the judicial bench
- She later held the role of staff attorney to Judge Dax E. Lopez before her judicial appointment
- She has also served on the State Bar of Georgia’s Board of Governors and chaired multiple Young Lawyers Division committees
- Martinez is a past president of the Georgia Hispanic Bar Association and current Chair of the Georgia Latino Law Foundation, which promotes diversity in the legal profession and supports Latino legal community access.
