## Biography

### Professional career

- New Castle County Family Court judge in Delaware, appointed in 2003 and reappointed in 2015, with a background in law enforcement, prosecution, and judicial service
- In January 2013, the Delaware Supreme Court found Judge Coppadge in disciplinary proceedings for “persistent misconduct” under Rule 2.5(C) of the Delaware Judges’ Code of Judicial Conduct, which requires judges to dispose promptly of court business The case, In re: The Honorable Arlene Minus Coppadge, arose from her failure to properly report cases held under advisement and not including them in the required 90‐day report Law
- Judicial Service: Commissioner of the Court of Common Pleas for nine years

- Renominated by former Governor Jack Markell in 2015 and confirmed by the Delaware Senate
- Appointed in 2003, filling the vacancy created when Chief Judge Chandlee Johnson Kuhn was appointed
- At the time of her appointment, she was the first African‐American woman to sit on the Delaware Family Court
- Born in New Jersey, Coppadge moved to Delaware at age seven
- Judge Coppadge has a long judicial and legal career in Delaware, notable for her historic appointment to the Family Court and her later disciplinary sanction for case management issues
