Scope: statewide

Electronic media and still-photography coverage is allowed in Florida public trial and appellate proceedings under Rule 2.450's equipment and conduct standards, always subject to the presiding judge's control of decorum, distractions, and fair administration.

Evidence excerpt: Subject at all times to the authority of the presiding judge to: (i) control the conduct of proceedings before the court; (ii) ensure decorum and prevent distractions; and (iii) ensure the fair administration of justice in the pending cause, electronic media and still photography coverage of public judicial proceedings in the appellate and trial courts of this state shall be allowed

## Biography

### Professional career

- In May 2022, the Florida Supreme Court suspended Judge Hobbs for 60 days without pay and ordered a $30,000 fine for misconduct involving her adult son’s legal matters
- 1994–1996: Assistant Attorney General, North Florida
- 1981–1982: Assistant Attorney General, Anti-Trust Section
- The court found she failed to recuse herself from cases where her son’s attorney appeared, and she improperly interacted with her son during police custody
- Circuit Judge for Florida’s Second Judicial Circuit, which covers Leon, Franklin, Wakulla, Franklin, and parts of other counties in northwestern Florida
- She held the role of a partner at Cummings and Hobbs P.A. for 16 years, tried over 200 jury trials in state and federal courts, and practiced in all six county courts of the Second Judicial Circuit.
