## Biography

### Professional career

- 1997–present – Associate Justice, Fifth District Court of Appeal
- 1990–1996 – Presiding judge of the Family Law Department.

### Education

- He later earned his J.D. in 1977 from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law.

### Additional information

- Associate Justice of the California Fifth District Court of Appeal, serving since August 5, 1997, and currently in a retention term through January 8, 2035.
- He was the initial organizer and chair of the Fresno County Domestic Violence Roundtable (1990–2002) and was recognized as Public Servant of the Year by the Marjaree Mason Center in 2001.
- 1989 – Elevated to Fresno County Superior Court.
- 1988 – Appointed by Governor George Deukmejian to Fresno County Municipal Court.
- President of the Fresno County Bar Association (1988) and the Fresno County Young Lawyers Association (1984).
- received the Glenn V. Winslow Memorial Award as outstanding male graduate that year.
- He is a life member of the Roger Traynor Honor Society and was consistently selected for the Dean’s List.
- He has served on multiple California Judicial Council committees, including the Family and Juvenile Law Standing Advisory Committee, the Appellate Advisory Committee, and the Appellate Indigent Defense Oversight Advisory Committee.
- He has also been active in the Rotary Club of Fresno, the California Judges Association, and various historical and arts organizations.
