### Professional career

- Carter’s appointment followed Judge Gross’s resignation in March 2026 to qualify for a Superior Court seat
- Partner at CarterFranklin, LLP and was appointed in July 2026 by Governor Brian Kemp to the State Court of Candler County, Georgia, filling the vacancy left by Judge J. Kendall Gross
- Carter had been Solicitor-General for the State Court of Candler County and previously held the role of Chief Magistrate Judge of the county
