Scope: statewide

Electronic media and still-photography coverage is allowed in Florida public trial and appellate proceedings under Rule 2.450's equipment and conduct standards, always subject to the presiding judge's control of decorum, distractions, and fair administration.

Evidence excerpt: Subject at all times to the authority of the presiding judge to: (i) control the conduct of proceedings before the court; (ii) ensure decorum and prevent distractions; and (iii) ensure the fair administration of justice in the pending cause, electronic media and still photography coverage of public judicial proceedings in the appellate and trial courts of this state shall be allowed

## Biography

### Professional career

- Began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the Fifth Judicial Circuit, serving until 1994, before entering private practice at the Law Office of J. Michael Blackstone.

### Education

- Both his bachelor’s degree (1986) and J.D. (1991) from Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, Georgia.

### Additional information

- Bruce E. Carney joined the Citrus County Court on October 15, 2019, by Governor Ron DeSantis, filling a vacancy created by House Bill 5011.
- Later, he practiced civil and criminal law through his own firm, Carney and Associates, from 1996
- He was admitted to practice law in Florida in 1992 and in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida the same year.
