- Appointed by former Governor Charlie Crist in 2009 to fill the vacancy left by the late Judge Howard M. Zeidwig.
- He is a Board‐Certified Specialist in Civil Trial Law (Florida Bar, 1995) and has served on the Broward Human Rights Board, Florida Bar Grievance Committee, and other boards.
- His family settled in Fort Lauderdale and sought political asylum in 1967

- Born in Cuba, Rodriguez fled to the U.S. with his family at age five.
