Scope: statewide

Electronic media and still-photography coverage is allowed in Florida public trial and appellate proceedings under Rule 2.450's equipment and conduct standards, always subject to the presiding judge's control of decorum, distractions, and fair administration.

Evidence excerpt: Subject at all times to the authority of the presiding judge to: (i) control the conduct of proceedings before the court; (ii) ensure decorum and prevent distractions; and (iii) ensure the fair administration of justice in the pending cause, electronic media and still photography coverage of public judicial proceedings in the appellate and trial courts of this state shall be allowed

### Professional career

- Judge Swift was born in Staten Island, New York, and has lived in Lee County, Florida, since 1983

### Education

- Law degree magna cum laude from Tulane University College of Law in 1999, joining the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity

### Additional information

- Judge Carolyn D. Swift has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1999 and became board certified in Marital and Family Law in 2007.
- Elected to the Circuit Court bench in 2018 and presided over the Unified Family Court docket in Lee County for five years before joining the Family Division in 2024.
- She has held leadership roles as past president of the Association of Family Law Professionals (2003–2005) and past president of the Lee County Association of Women Lawyers (2002–2004).
- Also recognized as “40 Under 40” by Gulfshore Business in 2004
- Judge Swift oversees family law cases, including dissolution of marriage, dependency, delinquency, and injunctions.
