### Professional career

- Senior Judge, Pennsylvania Superior Court (2016–present)
- American attorney, politician, and jurist best known for his service as an Associate Justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court from July 30, 2013, to January 4, 2016.
- Associate Justice, Pennsylvania Supreme Court (2013–2016), appointed by Governor Tom Corbett after the resignation of Joan Orie Melvin
- Judge, Pennsylvania Superior Court (1997–2013), serving as President Judge from 2011–2013
- Judge, Court of Common Pleas of Luzerne County (1992–1998)
- Now President Judge Emeritus of the Pennsylvania Superior Court

### Education

- B.A. in Political Science from Pennsylvania State University
- a J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law, where he held the role of associate editor of the Dickinson Law Review.

### Additional information

- Awards include Outstanding Young Pennsylvanian (Pennsylvania Jaycees), Humanitarian of the Year (1983), and Excellence in Teaching (Penn State, 2010).
