- Earlier Roles: Private general law practice (1993–1999), Commissioner in Chancery, Appomattox County Circuit Court (1998–1999), Commissioner of Accounts, Appomattox County (1995–1999)
- Judge in Virginia’s 10th Judicial District Court, serving as Presiding Judge for the Appomattox General District Court and as a resident judge for both Appomattox and Halifax Counties’ General District Courts

- Commonwealth’s Attorney (2000–2019): held the role of Special Prosecutor for the City of Lynchburg and multiple counties, including Amherst, Bedford, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Lunenburg, Nelson, and Prince Edward.
