- Judge, District Court of Appeal of Florida, 1998-present
- Judge of the Florida Second District Court of Appeal from 1998 until his retirement on December 31, 2024, after more than 26 years of service
- In 1990, he was elected circuit court judge, serving primarily in Punta Gorda from 1991 until his 1998 appointment to the Second District Court of Appeal Second District Court of Appeal
- Began his legal career in 1976 as an assistant state attorney in Florida’s 20th Judicial Circuit
- He later entered private practice as a partner in the Port Charlotte law firm Olmsted, Schwarz, Kahle & Casanueva Second District Court of Appeal

Electronic media and still-photography coverage is allowed in Florida public trial and appellate proceedings under Rule 2.450's equipment and conduct standards, always subject to the presiding judge's control of decorum, distractions, and fair administration.

Evidence excerpt: Subject at all times to the authority of the presiding judge to: (i) control the conduct of proceedings before the court; (ii) ensure decorum and prevent distractions; and (iii) ensure the fair administration of justice in the pending cause, electronic media and still photography coverage of public judicial proceedings in the appellate and trial courts of this state shall be allowed
