- Joined the Superior Court in 2003 and served until his mandatory retirement in January 2022
- In late 2016, Lee was assigned to the Leandro case, which involved five low-wealth school districts arguing they could not provide adequate education without state intervention.
- Before joining the bench, he was a long-time civil litigation attorney.
- This was a significant intervention, as it was the first time a North Carolina judge ordered such a large, direct state spending allocation.
- North Carolina Superior Court judge best known for overseeing the landmark Leandro v.
- Lee, a native of South Carolina who grew up in Unionville, earned his degree from Western Carolina University and his law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law.
