- Judge DeWitt Whitfield Simonton Jr. (November 22, 1932 – May 29, 2019) was an 86‐year‐old retired Spalding County, Georgia Probate Judge and a respected community leader
- Spalding County Probate Judge for 27 years, retiring in January 2013

### Education

- Judicial education from the University of Georgia, holding a 25‐year certificate

### Additional information

- Judge Simonton passed away on May 29, 2019 in Griffin, GA.
- A memorial service was held May 31, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Griffin, officiated by Dr.
- Served in the United States Air Force in Germany as an Air Traffic Controller
- He was also active in professional organizations, including the National College of Probate Judges, the Probate Judges Council of Georgia, and as President of the Sixth Judicial District Probate Judges Association
- A member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Affairs, he was a long‐time deacon at First Baptist Church of Griffin, serving as a Sunday School greeter for over 40 years
