Scope: statewide

Electronic media and still-photography coverage is allowed in Florida public trial and appellate proceedings under Rule 2.450's equipment and conduct standards, always subject to the presiding judge's control of decorum, distractions, and fair administration.

Evidence excerpt: Subject at all times to the authority of the presiding judge to: (i) control the conduct of proceedings before the court; (ii) ensure decorum and prevent distractions; and (iii) ensure the fair administration of justice in the pending cause, electronic media and still photography coverage of public judicial proceedings in the appellate and trial courts of this state shall be allowed

## Biography

### Professional career

- Edward A. Garrison currently holds the office of Palm Beach County Court Judge – Group 6, with his term extending until December 31, 2030
- He later held the role of a “roving” judge in the Criminal Division In January 2013, Garrison joined the Palm Beach County Court, Group 6, following his election in November 2012
- In 1988, he ran unopposed for a Circuit Court position and was sworn in as a Circuit Judge in January 1989, initially assigned to the Civil Division
- Began his judicial career as a county judge in Palm Beach County, serving two full terms from 1980 to 1989

- Also a candidate for re-election in the 2024 Florida General Election.
- His term was set to expire in January 2019, and he continues to serve actively, including hearing foreclosure cases as a senior judge.
- Also an instructor on Evidence and Case Management for the Conference of Circuit Judges and participates in Advanced Judicial Studies
- He was also the Administrative Judge for two years and held leadership roles, including Director and President of the Conference of County Court Judges.
