### Professional career

- Elyze Josephine McDonald Iriarte is a judge of the Superior Court of Guam, appointed in 2016 and currently serving a term through January 31, 2033
- Began her legal career as a law clerk at the District Court of Guam during her final semester at USC Gould School of Law

- In November 2024, Judge Iriarte was retained in her position with 85.7% of the vote in Guam’s judicial retention election.
- Before joining the judiciary, Iriarte had 15 years in private practice, primarily in employment and maritime litigation in Guam.
- She litigated significant cases, including vessel grounding, oil spill, and vessel arrest matters, and before the Guam Supreme Court, she helped affirm the at-will employment doctrine, improve government procurement methods, and clarify statutory interpretation
