## Biography

### Professional career

- Eric Maurice Johnson held the role of an Associate Judge on the Montgomery County District Court, District 6, from June 14, 1996, to August 28, 2000, before being appointed to the Montgomery County Circuit Court, 6th Judicial Circuit, where he served from August 29, 2000, until his retirement on October 31, 2014
- Before joining the bench, Johnson worked in the Office of the State’s Attorney for Montgomery County — 1988–1996 and held the role of a police officer with the Montgomery County Police Department
- Judge, 2nd Judicial District District Court

### Education

- His education includes a B.S. from the University of Maryland University College (1976) and a J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law (1981)

### Additional information

- He has been a Senior Judge since February 9, 2015
- He also clerked for Judge John F. McAuliffe of the Montgomery County Circuit Court and was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1985
- Johnson served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1966 and in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1966 to 1968
- During his tenure, he participated in the Family Law Committee, Public Awareness Committee, and the Drug Treatment Court Commission of the Maryland Judicial Conference
