### Professional career

- Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico, appointed on February 4, 2009 by Governor Luis Fortuño Burset
- In June 2007, Governor Aníbal Acevedo Vilá appointed him Superior Court Judge in Ponce, presiding over Family Law and Serious Criminal divisions.

- His elevation to the Supreme Court in 2009 marked his entry into the island’s highest judicial body
- Kolthoff completed studies at the Escuela Libre de Música in Hato Rey (1979) and began music studies at the Puerto Rico Conservatory.
- Born September 15, 1961, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
