Scope: statewide

Alabama Rule of Criminal Procedure 9.4 permits televising, photographing, or radio broadcasting of judicial proceedings only as provided by Alabama judicial ethics canons, law, or another court rule.

Evidence excerpt: The taking of television pictures or other photographs in or of the courtroom during the progress of judicial proceedings or the radio broadcasting of judicial proceedings may be permitted as provided in Canon 3(A)(7) and (7B), Canons of Judicial Ethics, promulgated by the Alabama Supreme Court, or as otherwise may be permitted by law or other rule of court.

### Professional career

- Frederic A. Bolling is a Democratic Party judge of the Alabama 10th Judicial Circuit, serving Place 13 in Jefferson County since January 20, 2025, with a term ending January 20, 2031
- Before his judicial appointment, Bolling held the role of a special appointed circuit judge for Jefferson County from 2017, and previously as a partner at Thomas, Means, Gillis and Seay, P.C. BirminghamWatch.
- He has also served as a law clerk for the Alabama Attorney General and for the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia BirminghamWatch
