### Professional career

- Chief Justice Piper has led the Massachusetts Land Court since his initial appointment by former Governor Jane M. Swift in 2002
- Reappointed by Trial Court Chief Justice Jeffrey A. Locke on October 29, 2023, for a five‐year term
- The Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Land Court, appointed in 2002 and reappointed in 2023 for a five‐year term
- Chief Justice Piper’s tenure reflects a focus on modernizing court operations, improving access to justice, and maintaining the Land Court’s specialized role in resolving complex real estate and land use disputes
