Alabama Rule of Criminal Procedure 9.4 permits televising, photographing, or radio broadcasting of judicial proceedings only as provided by Alabama judicial ethics canons, law, or another court rule.

Evidence excerpt: The taking of television pictures or other photographs in or of the courtroom during the progress of judicial proceedings or the radio broadcasting of judicial proceedings may be permitted as provided in Canon 3(A)(7) and (7B), Canons of Judicial Ethics, promulgated by the Alabama Supreme Court, or as otherwise may be permitted by law or other rule of court.

## Biography

### Professional career

- Greg Griffin has been a Circuit Judge for the 15th Judicial Circuit in Montgomery, Alabama since 2014
- He is also recognized for his work as Chief Legal Counsel for the Alabama Board of Pardons & Paroles from 1995 to 2014
- Before that, he held the role of an Assistant Attorney General (1987–1995), and held legal roles at A.G. Gaston Enterprises, Pennick Williams & Jones, and the Legal Services Corporation of Alabama.

- Democratic Party judge serving on the Alabama 15th Judicial Circuit since December 2014, known for high-profile cases and prior legal leadership roles.
- Griffin has been the first African American Chief Legal Counsel for the Alabama Board of Pardons & Paroles, and has also held the role of Chairman of the Republican Council and on various civic boards.
