### Professional career

- The Judge of the State Court of Tift County, Georgia, elected in 2014 and serving since January 2015, also presiding over the Tift County DUI/Drug Court since its 2017 inception
- Benson has been the State Court Judge for Tift County since 2015

- He also presides over the Tift County DUI/Drug Court, which began in January 2017 and was recognized in 2024–2026 as a “Model DUI Court” by the Georgia Council of Accountability Court Judges for its excellence in rehabilitation and accountability
- Practiced law in private capacity from 1986
- City Editor and Sports Editor at the Tifton Gazette before law school
- handling misdemeanor criminal cases, civil litigation, traffic offenses, appeals from magistrate court, and other matters within the county’s jurisdiction.
