### Professional career

- Senior judge of the Clay County Superior Court in Brazil, Indiana, appointed in 1999 and serving in a senior role since 2019, with a recent appointment as Judge Pro Tempore effective August 28, 2026
- Akers has been on the Clay County Superior Court bench since 1999, initially appointed to replace retiring Judge John P. Stelle
- His regular term ended in 2018, and he became a Senior Judge in 2019 On August 28, 2026, the Indiana Supreme Court appointed him Judge Pro Tempore of the Clay Superior Court following Judge Robert A. Pell’s retirement, with authority to continue court operations until further order
