- Distinguished American corporate lawyer and judge who has held the role of Vice Chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery since October 9, 2009, and is currently in his second 12‐year term

- M.A. and J.D., University of Virginia School of Law (1995)
- summa cum laude, Princeton University — B.A. (1991)

### Additional information

- Re‐nominated by Governor John Carney in 2021 and re‐confirmed by the Senate on October 13, 2021
- Governor Jack Markell nominated Laster to the Delaware Court of Chancery in 2009; the Delaware Senate confirmed him, and he was sworn in on October 9, 2009.
- In 2005, Laster co‐founded Abrams & Laster LLP, a boutique specializing in high‐stakes corporate litigation and transactional matters with litigation risk
- He clerked for Judge Jane R. Roth on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit before joining Richards, Layton & Finger as a corporate law director
- received the Law School Alumni Association Award for Academic Excellence.
