## Biography

### Professional career

- In January 2013, McGee was elected by the South Carolina General Assembly to serve as an at-large judge of the South Carolina Family Court, Seat 3.
- He also held the role of General Counsel for Francis Marion University and taught political science there

### Education

- Undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina in 1982 and later attended the University of South Carolina School of Law, graduating with a J.D. in 1995

### Additional information

- “Jim” McGee III was born in 1959 in Hartsville, South Carolina, to James G. McGee Jr. and Claire (Redman) McGee.
- After law school, he practiced with the firm Dusenbury & Snow in Florence
- focusing on family litigation and serving as an attorney for volunteers in the Guardian ad litem program in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit.
- During his tenure, he was active on the Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees, including serving as a subcommittee chairman
