## Biography

### Professional career

- District 7 Judge of the Iowa Judicial Branch, appointed in 2019, and since 2021 has also served on the Iowa Business Specialty Court, with a new full-time role in that court beginning September 2026
- Business Specialty Court Judge — Appointed by the Iowa Supreme Court in April 2021 to handle complex commercial litigation
- District 7 Judge — Appointed to the Iowa District Court bench in December 2019, serving the 7th Judicial District, which includes Cedar, Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine, and Scott counties

- Iowa State University — B.A. (1989)

### Additional information

- Prior to judicial appointments, Judge Bert served on the Board of Directors for the Vera French Mental Health Center and One Eighty, Inc., and was a member of the Bettendorf Planning & Zoning Commission from 2012 to 2019
- Before joining the bench, Judge Bert practiced law for 28 years in civil litigation and trial work, with a focus on business and workers’ compensation matters.
