## Biography

### Professional career

- Washington State Superior Court Judge for Snohomish County, appointed by Governor Bob Ferguson in July 2026 to succeed Judge Marybeth Dingledy
- In his own words, Baer pledges to treat all parties “with respect and dignity” and to resolve matters “in accordance with governing law and in the interests of justice”
- His appointment was announced by Governor Ferguson, who praised Baer’s “commitment to our justice system” and “high level of legal experience”

- Began his judicial tenure on July 1, 2026, filling the vacancy left by Judge Dingledy.
- handling high-profile criminal and civil asset forfeiture, money laundering, and fraud cases — including some of the largest in the office’s history.
- Part of the executive team for PATHWAY, a federal mental health pre-trial diversion court.
- Earlier in his career, he practiced at McNaul Ebel Nawrot & Helgren, PLLC in Seattle for six years
- focusing on complex commercial matters.
- Career litigator with over 13 years of experience in both criminal and civil cases.
- Before becoming a judge, Baer held the role of an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Western District of Washington
- He also worked on dismantling international criminal organizations and recovering hundreds of millions of dollars for victims.
- He has said he was drawn to the Snohomish County bench because it allows him to serve his local community rather than work on cases abroad.
- He also served in the Excelsior Service Fellowship Program at the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
