- Distinguished American judge, best known for his 40+ year career in Indiana’s judiciary, culminating in his retirement from the Indiana Court of Appeals in July 2020 as the state’s longest‐serving judge
- Indiana Court of Appeals: Appointed in 1989 by Governor Evan Bayh; held the role of Chief Judge (2007–2010)
- Lawyer: Partner at Baker, Barnhart & Andrews in Bloomington (1971–1975)

- Helped create the Indiana Graduate Program for Judges with Chief Justice Randall Shepard
