## Biography

### Professional career

- Judge Jon Schmidt is a nonpartisan judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals, appointed in 2023 and re‐elected in 2024, serving District 2 until 2031
- Law clerk to Judge Myron H. Bright (Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals) and Hon
- Adjunct professor at multiple law schools, teaching appellate advocacy, legal writing, and criminal justice

### Additional information

- Appointed by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on September 5, 2023 to replace Hon.
- He also held the role of past chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Section and created a pro bono program for indigent clients
