### Professional career

- In October 2025, Jones was named in a mandamus case in Superior Court challenging Bulloch County’s long‐standing practice of not considering bonds in felony cases at first appearance hearings.
- In September 2023, she was appointed and sworn in as Acting Chief Magistrate by Chief Superior Court Judge Gates Peed following Braswell’s retirement
- Karen Riggs Jones has served in the Bulloch County Magistrate Office for over 35 years, holding every major role from Deputy Clerk to Chief Clerk and Deputy Magistrate
- Judge Karen Riggs Jones is a long‐time Bulloch County Magistrate Court judge and current Chief Magistrate, recently running for a full term with strong local endorsements
