## Biography

### Professional career

- Confirmed by the New Jersey State Senate in January 2024 to serve as a Superior Court Judge for the State of New Jersey
- He became a partner in 2003, later Co‐Chair of the firm’s Insurance and Reinsurance Practice, and Co‐Managing Partner for two three‐year terms, concluding in December 2023

### Education

- B.A. from Brandeis University (1989) and his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law–Newark (1994).

- As of January 2026, he is assigned to the Criminal Division of the Superior Court in Somerset County (Vicinage 13)
- In 2015, he received the Anti‐Defamation League’s Sidney Wilf Distinguished Leadership Award for leadership in business, community affairs, and charitable endeavors
- The son of former New Jersey Assemblywoman Barbara Kalik (now Barbara Bennett)
- Before his judicial role, Kalik was a partner at Riker Danzig, where he built a robust insurance litigation practice.
- He has represented clients in both state and federal courts in New Jersey and New York, and served on the New Jersey Supreme Court’s Ad Hoc Committee on Attorney Malpractice Insurance, the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee, and the District XIII Ethics Committee
