## Biography

### Professional career

- Associate Justice of the Third District Court of Appeal since January 6, 2022, appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom and confirmed by the California Commission on Judicial Appointments
- In March 2023, she was nominated by the Governor to become Presiding Justice of the Third District Court of Appeal, succeeding Vance W. Raye California Governor
- Associate Justice and Administrative Presiding Justice of California’s Third District Court of Appeal, appointed in 2021 and confirmed in 2022, with a career spanning Sacramento County Superior Court, public defense, and district attorney roles
- Before her appellate appointment, Earl was a Sacramento County Superior Court judge — 2005–2021, presiding over civil, criminal, and juvenile dependency cases, and serving as Presiding Judge — 2012–2013
- Deputy District Attorney (1995–2004) in domestic violence, sexual assault, and homicide divisions
- She also teaches Criminal Law Pleading & Practice at Lincoln Law School and has led public education programs such as the Democracy in Action Academy
