- The Vice-Chief Regional District Judge for the Kentucky 22nd Judicial District, 3rd Division, serving since 2019 and running for re‐election in 2026
- Judicial Service: Elected Fayette County District Court Judge, 3rd Division in 2018, defeating a three‐term incumbent

- Judge Thurston presides over criminal misdemeanor and felony cases, as well as civil matters such as small claims, probate, evictions, and civil disputes under $5,000.
- As Vice‐Chief Regional District Judge, she oversees the 3rd Division’s operations
- Boards for Chrysalis House, The Well of Lexington, LexTran, and the Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention Coalition, and is active with Bluegrass Crime Stoppers and Dress for Success Lexington.
- She also leads Fayette County’s first Juvenile Treatment Court and serves as one of four Fayette County Drug Court Judges.
