- “Marci” Armstrong was appointed on July 24, 2026, by Chief Justice Paul Newby as North Carolina’s first Chief Complex Family Financial Court Judge, effective September 1, 2026
- The CFFC program was established under Session Law 2026‐41/42, authorizing the Chief Justice to appoint three special superior court judges, with Armstrong as the inaugural Chief These judges serve eight‐year terms and have the highest mandatory retirement age (78) among trial and appellate judges in North Carolina
- Current practice: Partner at The Armstrong Law Firm, P.A., in Smithfield
