### Professional career

- District Judge for the 7th Judicial District of Kansas (Douglas County) and, as of January 1, 2026, serves as Chief Judge of the district through December 31, 2027
- The Kansas Supreme Court appointed Simpson as Chief Judge of the 7th Judicial District for the 2026–2027 term, succeeding James McCabria As Chief Judge, Simpson has general control over case assignments in the district and supervisory authority over administrative and clerical functions, in addition to his judicial duties
