## Biography

### Professional career

- Since 2012, Boenig has been a partner at Palmore, Boenig & Associates PC in Athens, GA, alongside former public defender Malcolm Palmore
- After passing the Georgia bar in 2006, he held the role of Assistant Solicitor General for over five years, prosecuting cases in Clarke County’s municipal and state courts, and as Municipal Prosecutor for the City of Winterville
- Licensed attorney in Georgia, not a judge, currently a partner at Palmore, Boenig & Associates PC, with a background in public service and criminal defense law

### Education

- He later completed his J.D. at Texas Tech University School of Law
- Markus Boenig grew up in New Mexico, earning a B.A. in History from New Mexico State University and a Master of Agriculture from Texas A&M University.

### Additional information

- Before entering private practice, Boenig worked in the Animal Science Department at the University of Georgia, then returned to Texas to work for both the Western Circuit Public Defender and the Western Circuit District Attorney.
- Boenig serves on the Athens SPLOST Oversight Committee and the Winterville Planning and Zoning Commission
