- Mary Janipher Bennett Malveaux is an incumbent judge of the Virginia Court of Appeals, elected by the Virginia General Assembly on March 11, 2016, to an eight‐year term beginning April 16, 2016
- held the role of chief judge of the 14th Judicial District from 2014–2016
- First African‐American woman appointed as a full‐time General District Court judge in Henrico County in 2011, serving in Virginia’s 14th Judicial District
