### Professional career

- Supervising/Presiding Judge, Criminal Division (June 2021 – Oct 2025) — oversaw approximately 20 magistrate court judges, 60 weekly criminal calendars, clerks, and support staff
- Matthew J. McCoyd is a judge with the DeKalb County Magistrate Court in Georgia, appointed in 2015 and serving in multiple leadership roles within the court system

- Prior to judicial service, he was a Senior Assistant District Attorney in DeKalb County and a Special Assistant District Attorney in Cobb County, trying more than 100 cases in Georgia’s State and Federal Courts
- As a judge, McCoyd has presided over over 200 trials (civil and criminal, bench and jury) in DeKalb County’s Superior, State, Magistrate, and Municipal Courts over the past decade
