### Professional career

- Melanie Marva Shaw is a judge of the Appellate Court of Maryland, serving on the 4th Appellate Judicial Circuit (Prince George’s County) since June 20, 2016
- Associate Judge, Prince George’s County Circuit Court (7th Judicial Circuit), 2001–2016
- Associate Judge, District Court of Maryland, District 5, 1996–2001
- She also held the role of Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Drug Court Program and implemented the county’s first Juvenile Drug Court and Re‐Entry Court programs
- She is also an Adjunct Professor at Bowie State University
