Scope: statewide

Electronic media and still-photography coverage is allowed in Florida public trial and appellate proceedings under Rule 2.450's equipment and conduct standards, always subject to the presiding judge's control of decorum, distractions, and fair administration.

Evidence excerpt: Subject at all times to the authority of the presiding judge to: (i) control the conduct of proceedings before the court; (ii) ensure decorum and prevent distractions; and (iii) ensure the fair administration of justice in the pending cause, electronic media and still photography coverage of public judicial proceedings in the appellate and trial courts of this state shall be allowed

## Biography

### Professional career

- Before joining the bench, Bateh held the role of Assistant Public Defender for the Fourth Judicial Circuit from 2009, later becoming Division Chief of the Capital Crimes Unit and assigned to the Homicide Unit He also practiced law in private practice (Marks Gray, 2006–2007; sole practitioner, 2007–2009)
- Nonpartisan judge of the Duval County Court in Florida’s Fourth Judicial Circuit, assigned to Division C of the County Court

### Additional information

- Bateh has served on the Jacksonville Bar Association Board of Governors, chaired the Florida Bar Grievance Committee, and advised the University of North Florida Pre‐Law Program.
- He is also active in community service, including mentorship, mock trial competitions, and volunteer work with local organizations
