## Biography

### Professional career

- American attorney and jurist from New Jersey, appointed in 2023 as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of New Jersey, making him the first former public defender and the third Hispanic to serve on the court
- Third Hispanic justice on the court, and the first since Justice Faustino J. Fernandez-Vina
- Noriega began as an assistant deputy public defender in Essex County for five years
- He then practiced immigration and criminal law for six years at his own firm, Noriega & Associates, in Newark, and later as a partner at Bramnick, Rodriguez, Grabas, Arnold, and Mangan in Scotch Plains
