## Biography

### Professional career

- the Presiding First Justice of the Metro-South Division of the Massachusetts Housing Court, a position he joined by Governor Charlie Baker in 2018, making him the first Indian American to serve on this court
- He also worked as a litigation associate at Mintz Levin and later became a partner at Dakoyannis & Sherring, LLC, managing complex civil litigation in areas such as landlord-tenant law, real estate, personal injury, insurance, and employment discrimination

- Undergraduate degree from Curry College
- Suffolk University Law School — J.D.

### Additional information

- Before joining the bench, Sherring had a distinguished legal career spanning over 25 years.
- Began as a Massachusetts Superior Court Law Clerk, then held the role of an Assistant District Attorney for the Northwestern District and as an Assistant Attorney General, where he prosecuted civil rights cases.
- He is an adjunct professor at Boston College Law School, teaching landlord-tenant law, and has held the role of a faculty member and program chair for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education workshops, mentoring young lawyers and promoting professional development
- In this role, he oversees cases that directly affect residents’ daily lives, including landlord-tenant disputes and housing code enforcement, while also co-chairing the Housing Court’s Educational Committee to enhance judicial training and public understanding of housing law
