### Professional career

- As of July 24, 2023, McCarthy serves as the Civil Presiding Judge for Monmouth County (Vicinage 9)
- Selected as a judge to the New Jersey Superior Court, Law Division, on November 17, 2016, after being nominated by Governor Chris Christie.
- McCarthy has a strong legal background, having tried over 50 cases to verdict and being designated as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney by the New Jersey Supreme Court
- He also held the role of Commissioner and Treasurer for the Bergen County Housing Authority, New Jersey's largest public housing authority

- J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law and a B.A. in Political Science from Union College
