## Biography

### Professional career

- judge for the Berks County Court of Common Pleas, District 23, with his term extending until December 31, 2035
- Before his appointment, he held the role of assistant chief counsel for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from 2017 to 2023 and was an officer in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 2009 to 2017, with assignments in multiple U.S. bases and Afghanistan.
- Prior to his judicial career, Barrett served as a shareholder at Hartman Shurr Valeriano (formerly Essig, Valeriano & Fudeman) starting in 2011.
- Began his legal career as an assistant district attorney for Berks County in 1987, prosecuting criminal cases for three years, and later practiced in private law focusing on loan workouts and collections.
