## Biography

### Professional career

- Selected as an Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Appeals Court by Governor Deval Patrick, taking office on January 15, 2008
- Since his appointment, Justice Rubin has continued to contribute to legal education, serving as a visiting professor at Harvard Law School, teaching advanced criminal procedure courses

### Additional information

- Magna cum laude graduate of both Yale College and Harvard Law School, where he held the position of an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
- After law school, he clerked for Judge Collins J. Seitz of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and then for Justice David H. Souter of the U.S. Supreme Court for two years
- Before joining the bench, Rubin was an appellate litigator and held the role of of counsel at O'Melveny and Myers, LLP in its appellate practice group.
- He also had a distinguished academic career as a full-time law professor at Georgetown University Law Center, teaching constitutional law and criminal justice, and continuing to engage in appellate litigation, including cases before the U.S. Supreme Court
