## Biography

### Professional career

- On the Appeals Court, Sacks participates in three-judge panels and contributes to the court’s continuous single-justice sessions
- Sacks spent 28 years in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office

### Education

- earned his J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1986, where he was a member of the Harvard Law Review.
- Peter Sacks graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard College in 1981

### Additional information

- Appointed by Governor Charlie Baker, Sacks joined the Massachusetts Appeals Court on September 12, 2016.
- After law school, he clerked for Judge Edward Gignoux of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine and Judge Frank Coffin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit
- focusing on appellate law, administrative law, election law, public records, separation of powers, appropriations, and state constitutional issues.
- He argued numerous appeals before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and held the role of State Solicitor, advising the Attorney General on appellate strategy.
- He was also a member of the Boston Bar Association and the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers
