- Legal Career: Assistant U.S. Attorney, Eastern District of Texas (1990–2020) Assistant District Attorney, Lubbock & Midland Counties, TX (1986–1990) Associate attorney, Huffaker, Green, & Huffaker, Tahoka, TX (1984–1985)
- U.S. Army Reserve, Judge Advocate General’s Corps (1988–2018), retiring as Colonel Roles included legal advisor for the Office of the Judge Advocate General, legal advisor to the Convening Authority, and reserve military judge
