### Professional career

- Full-time Magistrate Judge in Gwinnett County, Georgia, presiding over a wide range of cases including family law, criminal matters, and civil litigation, and is currently running for election to the Georgia 9th Superior Court, Gwinnett Circuit, in 2026
- Judge Matthews has held the role of a full-time Magistrate Judge since 2020, appointed by all eleven Gwinnett County Superior Court judges and the Chief Magistrate Judge
- Pro bono work with the Truancy Intervention Program and Georgia Justice Project
- She completed internships with the Chicago Legal Clinic and the DeKalb County Public Defender’s Office, then began as an Assistant Public Defender in DeKalb County

- A native of Chicago, Illinois, Matthews earned her B.A. from the University of South Carolina in 2000 and her J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 2004, receiving multiple scholarships.
